Our hands not only are susceptible to the first signs of ageing, but very often age even faster than our faces. That’s because the skin on the back of the hand is much thinner than that on our face. There is very little fat on the backs of the hands, so when even a small amount of collagen or elastin fibers begins to break down, partly as a normal result of the aging process and partly from sun exposure, smoking, use of chemicals, and soap and water, it’s going to have a noticeable impact on your hands. On the back of the hand ageing is visible as thinning or loss of volume between the flexor tendons, very prominent blood veins, wrinkled skin, and age spots and brown discolorations.
Intrinsic ageing of the hands is best improved by restoring soft tissue volume. Volume restoration can be achieved by a treatment with fillers, whereas additional use of skin boosters improves the skin’s production of collagen, giving wrinkles less chance and putting back some of the cushion under the skin that has been lost through the years.
Overall skin improvement
Cosmetic Clinics specializes in helping to improve the overall appearance of your face, in the broadest sense. Our service to you is not limited only to correcting imperfections in the face with the help of injectables (botox, fillers and skin boosters). We also provide tips and advice on what you can do to improve the condition of your skin in general. Good blood circulation to the skin, proper care and hydration, a healthy diet and the use of appropriate supplements, all these components contribute to a healthy, youthful looking skin and glowing complexion.
In most cases, there is a lot we can do for you ourselves. From a course of treatment with skin boosters or peelings to a nourishing cream for a particular skin condition or suitable nutrition or supplement advice – we provide a wide variety of products and services to meet your needs.
In other cases, we will be happy to refer you to a suitable and reliable skin care partner. For example, we might feel that your skin would benefit from laser therapy, either in preparation for or in addition to one of our own treatments. Or we might think a consultation with a dermatologist better suits your needs. Or perhaps you would like a thorough skin analysis. Our first concern always is your personal health and the health of your skin. Which also means that, on principle, we will not hesitate to refuse performing (part of) a treatment that we feel is not in your best interest. Of course we will always involve you in our decision-making process. We strive for transparency and honesty, both in our decisions as well as in our advice and communication.
Fortunately, refusing treatment is limited to just a few exceptional cases. In almost every situation we are perfectly equipped and willing to help you with the subtle elimination of wrinkles, spots, folds, bags, and creases. Without creating that “pumped up” look. Our primary goal is not to place you in another age group. Our aim is to make you look just a few years younger, relaxed, and refreshed. We don’t want people looking at you and saying “Ahaaa… look who’s had botox recently.” Instead we want them to say, “Hey! You look fantastic!” Or “Been on a holiday recently?” Or “Look at you, you’re glowing!” Or even “Wow, you look so young!”.
Our cosmetic doctor is happy to discuss with you which treatment best suits you and your skin. If you so desire, we can also show you the results of our unique 3D-photos and computer simulation.
Nightly jaw clenching is detrimental to your teeth – in particular to the tooth enamel. Some reports state that as many as 1 in 4 people suffer from persistent jaw clenching, a condition which can result in pain (including headaches) and misery and the routine wearing of a bite guard in bed at night.
Botox injections to release the tension in the jaw muscles can be used to treat this condition. When results can be expected and how long they will last varies from person to person. Three to 6 months is a good rule of thumb. However, the more treatments you have had, the more the muscles will remain relaxed, and for longer, which means you will need repeat treatments less often.
Sweating is one of the most important ways in which the body loses heat; however, people with hyperhydrosis or excessive sweating produce sweat in amounts far greater than needed to control their temperature. Excessive sweating can be a nuisance: visibly wet armpits (regardless of how much deodorant is used), body odour and dark spots on clothing can have some people living in constant anxiety and embarrassment, and negatively affects their social and professional lives.
Excessive sweating can be easily, effectively and safely reduced with underarm botox injections, which temporarily immobilise the stimulus conduction between nerves and sweat glands. The effect will be noticeable after just a few days, and after roughly two weeks the sweat production will have been reduced optimally. The duration of the result varies from person to person and can be anything from 6 to 12 months. Botox injections can be used not only for excessive sweating of the armpits, but also for sweaty palms and feet.
A migraine cannot be compared to a “normal” headache. It is extremely painful, often accompanied by various other physical complaints, and interferes with everyday functioning. Migraine itself cannot be cured with botox, but excessive muscle tension can. Scientific research into the effects of botox as a treatment for migraine shows that an average of 75% of patients benefits from it. Using botox decreased the number of migraine attacks and lessened the severity.
Our practitioner will discuss the nature of your headaches and the areas affected with you, after which a treatment plan can be drawn up. Results can be expected relatively fast; in some cases as soon as the same night, and will last on average between 3 to 6 months.
